Note that in the next diagram some dinosaurs were listed more than once, when it appeared in more than one era of geological history.

While the creatures where picked from several geological eras - which span 250 million years - a remarkable concentration of creatures stem from the upper cretaceous. The very late cretaceaus, namely campanian and maastrichtian, have the highest concentration. It seems likely that the show writers meant for the Dino-Riders to arrive in this period. The creatures picked from other eras seem to have be picked because they are easily recognized.

A mere randomness in choice is possible, though unlikely.

Also it could be, that the writers had insight knowledge indicating that all creatures existed during the same period of time. This would mean, that science errs in some matters.
